The Ultimate Delivery Medley: The Wolseley’s Schnitzel, Zédel’s Steak, And The Delaunay’s Cheesecake In One Order
Lazy people everywhere please rejoice, because you can now get a taste of several of London’s most beloved restaurants without even leaving Old Faithful, or as some people call it, your sofa. Corbin and King, the people behind Brasserie Zédel, The Wolseley, The Delaunay, Colbert, and pretty much every other restaurant you’ve taken your mum to for her birthday, have launched a home-dining delivery service that includes many of their restaurants’ best dishes.
Basically, it’s the horizontal restaurant crawl we never knew we needed, but are now entirely obsessed with. And seeing as we’ve been to these restaurants more times than we’ve said ‘I’m so bored’ since lockdown began, we thought we’d give you some order recommendations.
WHAT TO ORDER
Brasserie Zédel - Steak Haché et Frites
The steak. The myth. The legend. This £9.50 steak and fries situation has always been our affordable go-to date dinner and you know what, we’ve really missed it. The peppercorn sauce is a real winner too.
Fischer’s - Käsekrainer & Sauerkraut
We’d ghost a Richmond’s sausage for these bad boys any day. Plus, the sauerkraut is pretty decent and you can order a cheeky side of marinated cucumber salad to go with it.
The Wolseley - Wiener Schnitzel
Look, we don’t know why, but there’s something about schnitzel that just sparks infinite joy. Maybe it’s the crumb. Maybe it’s the XXL portion size. Or maybe it just feeds into your Sound Of Music fantasies. We don’t know, but we do know that you should order it.
Brasserie Zédel - Mousse au Chocolat
So rich even Jeff Bezos is jealous. Plus, when we reviewed Brasserie Zédel, we said this chocolate mousse was ‘the kind of thing you wish could be delivered to you’. And would you look at that, 2020 - a.k.a. the worst year ever - has somehow made it happen.
The Delaunay - Vanilla Cheesecake
We’re a teeny, tiny bit heartbroken that they’re not delivering The Delaunay’s chocolate torte, but this cheesecake is a great consolation prize. The fork slice-through satisfaction is off the charts.
The Wolseley - Fruit Crumble & Creme Anglaise
We’re not entirely sure what self-care is, but we’re pretty sure ordering three desserts in the midst of a pandemic counts. The Wolseley is great at doing comfort food dressed up in its Sunday best and this fruity little number is the perfect example. A very solid way to end a meal.
