Houston-Based, Full-Service Eatery Announces Expansion with 15 th and 16 th Location Houston, TX  ( RestaurantNews.com )  The Toasted Yolk , a full-service dining concept that serves high-quality breakfast and lunch fare alongside boozy brunch cocktails, announces the signing of two new leases for franchised restaurant spaces in League City and Bellaire, Texas. Located in Pinnacle Park at 2535 Gulf Freeway South, the 6,110-square-foot League City location is set to open in December 2020. The Bellaire space, which is approximately 4,100-square-feet, is located in the recently rehabilitated Bellaire Town Center at 5103 Bellaire Blvd., Suite 160, on the southwest corner of Bellaire and South Rice Avenue. This location is set to open in March 2021. By that I don’t mean The Holidays™ — as both a Jew and a student of history, neither the Christmas Industrial Complex nor the origins of Thanksgiving give me much of a thrill. I’m talking about the act of coming together with people I love for the purpose of consuming unadvisable quantities of food and drink. For me, the holidays are a means to an end, one that I have historically enjoyed going all out to achieve — I love making three pies where one will do, love the somewhat abhorrent practice of sticking mini marshmallows into an unnaturally smooth facade of pureed sweet potato, even love the sucking sound the cranberry sauce makes as it slides languidly out of its can. But the first fact is definitely true (according to the internet) and is precisely why pie making, and more specifically #pieart, has become something of a fan-sport. It's the intricate layering of exquisitely cut dough, the intentional design, the gentle browning until the color is just so, such that when pulled from the oven, the pie just might resemble something you would frame and hang in your house.
